| Just another Tuesday morning |
[Nov. 4th, 2008|11:26 am] |
Wake up with the thought I forgot to pay the rent which is due by midnight yesterday. So, I go down thinking it's OK, since the banks I closed anyway. The manager tells me that she doesn't care, and I owe her $50 penalty... Of course I tell her what I think about her, and pay the penalty.
I go down to a gated garage with cameras only to see that my car has been broken in to and the passenger window is all over my seat and the floor, first thing I do is to check the trunk since that was the only time in a long time I left the laptop there. Laptop is there. So, I'm relieved, and the glass all of the sudden is a minor issue.
Being the patriot that I'm I drive down to vote, only to be told that I'm not on the list and I probably came to the wrong polling station. They let me vote anyway.
While I'm driving to work my manager calls me and tells me that the our database is broken, and although I'm not a DBA somehow they decided to make it my problem.
Really anxious to see what happens next. |

23andMe Slashed their price yesterday by 60%. Now your genome scan is only $399.
Now that it's so accessible to everyone, I wonder if they are tracking depression rate of customers that did the scan. Imagine you find out you have a high chance of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. I think some kind of counseling should come with the kit.
On the other hand they should cut prices even more, so everyone does it. This way all the data that's collected can be sold to pharmaceuticals and research institutions for if not faster then more productive research. |

If it was for real it would be a nice reason to lose weight. Airline that charges passengers by the pound.
"Visitors to the airline site learn that Derrie-Air is the world's only carbon-neutral luxury airline, and it justifies its fare policy by saying that it takes more fuel to move heavier objects. The carrier pledges to plant trees to offset every pound of carbon its planes release into the atmosphere."

I work as an IT professional. Today I got an email from my boss the CFO of the company.
Here is the email: " Subject: lets buy one of these guys. actually 2 for our men's room. blue preferred.
Body: http://www.urinalsplashguard.com/order.php
"
First of all WTF. I do have to say that he made my day by this request. I hope he is not counting on me as an IT person to install those things.
I did asked him why he was so specific on the color, he said that red and green are our company colors and he doesn't want people urinating on them. I should have known better then to ask this question, after all he did get his law degree from Harvard. I'm curious to know in which law class they cover the colors of splash guards for urinals.
Just another day at startup. |
